Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Anchor Inn
Canal-side Marston's pub that somehow fails to take advantage of its enviable location. Plenty of room inside, with various seating / dining areas in an overall 'L'-shape around the bar counter, plus a substantial front and side beer garden for the better weather. Menus out on the tables but no sign of anyone eating. Saddle Tank, Pedigree (at a remarkable £2.00) and Wainwright being dispensed from the two banks of three handpumps.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Anchor Inn
A low-level canal-side Marstons pub and eatery in cream render, with beer garden. The Anchor is a 60s-ish rebuild, well actually next door to the original pub that gave its name to the bridge over than canal.
The interior is a U-shape around the central serving bar and is in the typical pubco multi-coloured decor of; light green, dark green, yellow, cream, red and cream wallpaper. It has a white ceiling and moulded cornice. Open plan and soulless, it does lack charm like many of these places, but then they are here for food more than beer. It is of course set-up mainly for food, but there is an area with a dart board and a pool table. Victorian prints share the walls with three or so TVs which have Sky Sports on them and general music is piped through at a decent level. The service was good and the clientele mixed. We ate here and sadly the food wasn't really up to much, either a little tepid, corn on the cob becoming loose sweetcorn, or putting cheddar on my burger instead of stilton (it is why i go for burgers in these places as they are hard to mess-up!)
Beer wise, usual tap stuff with Banks's MILD. On handpull, there was Banks's bitter, Pedigree and Brakspear Hooray Henley, the Banks's bitter was OK.
My first review of here had said - I guess, and i find myself saying this a lot, i would come here if i was eating as well as drinking, otherwise the place isn't for me. Well, i did return and eat and sadly, it wasn't the best
