Found this community local - recently reopened after being closed by environmental health - a rather odd entry for the Good Beer Guide.
The rear of the pub looks very different from the front. Enter into a low ceiling space spaces on two levels around a long central bar. One lovely Chesterfield the pick of the seating.
The reason for the odd selection - a single Wye Valley HPA on. The handful of locals on keg lager between vapes. The barman did run off a pint before serving me and it was in slightly better than average condition but nowhere near as pin sharp as it can be.
Star taverns looking for replacement owners and promising a refurb, according to the sign outside.

A decent sized traditional pub, with the bar facing you as you enter, which was finished in a dark timber. The four brass handpumps on the bar were sparkling and the manageress was pleased when l commented. The bar area was decorated for the Euros and some of the bar stools had football designed covers over them. The beer choice was Butty Bach, Abbott, TT Boltmaker and HPA. The pub had a good relaxed atmosphere about it and was comfortable.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Cottage Inn
Although now buried in suburbia, the name is still reasonably apposite because it could be mistaken for an old-fashioned village inn. Refurbished yet still traditional within the staple-shaped interior, with a mix of people eating or just having a drink. Four real ales on handpump: Tribute, Wye Valley Butty Bach, Pale Rider from Kelham Island and Batham's Bitter.
