This Pub has reopened but is now called THE PLUM TREE.
Saturday 23rd June 2012. Party of 14. Not Pre-booked. The staff were very helpful in arranging for a large party that had literally dropped in. They were advertising a 2 for 1 outside and it would seem that they are still trying to attract new trade since the old pub closed.
The menu is extensive with all the pub favorites there but then there are another 20 odd meals to choose from on their specials board. Currently, all main meals are 2 for 1 and that offer is currently operating all the time. The average prices of the meals are a little expensive for pub meals but not for the Chester region, which seems to be able to charge 50% more than, let's say - Blackburn. That said with the 2 for 1 offer (cheapest meal free)it mean't one couple in our party were able to have 2 steaks for the equivalent of £7.50 each.
The party thought the food was excellent value with good portions and the food very well cooked. The deserts were exceptional both in terms of quality, quantity and value (Apple Pie & Custard for £3.00).
We will definitely walk in this area again just so we can frequent this place again. Well done to the courteous staff and good value for money food. Top notch.
