Strongers . left this review about The Ruin

The Ruin is a trendy bar with seating to the left of the entrance before steps down into the bar where the serving counter faces seating around windowed walls across the rear and up the right. The décor looks like an unfinished paint stripping project, and I thought old vinyl records stuck to the ceiling was a bit tacky, but I liked the effect the blinds had in the windows as the sun set. There’s lots more seating to the right of the bar area where a flight of stairs allows access to a roof terrace where the locals had gathered. The view isn’t the best, but alfresco drinking in the sun with a bit of a breeze was nice. Premium keg was available alongside Camden Hells and a couple of craft lagers, and the two hand pumps were drawing Hobsons Pale and Saxbys Original cider. The Pale was very good, as was the chicken burger, the pair of them setting me back about £18. Visiting trendy bars is never going to be at the top of my list, but the guy running the show was very friendly and I enjoyed my visit, so I’ll pop back in if I find myself in these parts again.

Birmingham's interesting attempt at Budapest Ruin Bar. Gets the model down to a tee - all mismatched distressed furniture and old technology nailed to the walls.

Quirky - lovely staff - and a decent pint of Staropramen.

Called in on 4.1.20 to see what real ales were on in this quirky looking corner pub, and chose a local Dig Brew beer which was fine.
