This is a detached pub with patio area. It carries a date of est1542, chalked on the exterior. The pub is grade II listed and dated by them to the 17th century, with 18th century additions. The earlier part has a sandstone wall with a now cream gable. The Georgian elements are in cream, with sash windows and a dog-tooth cornice. It looks great. sadly, the interior is now effectively a restaurant. It is irregular in shape, in white with some red, a white and beam ceiling and a wood floor. It is populated by dining tables and chairs (in wood) with some comfy seats. Arty mirrors and a wine display are there for interest, along with a nice old fireplace. There are no real pictures. The signage is all new, along with red and blue bull's heads to mark the sex of the bogs. a small area, which has a barrel, fireplace and a TV (not on) maybe a bar area - but I wasn't too sure. There was no music. The service was friendly, there was no clientele - mind you, it was an early visit. I can't comment on the food. Beer; no real ale, despite a handpull being there - just the usual keg taps with a decent enough Peroni. Not really my kind of place, especially without any real ale, or MILD. One to take the better half, especially if a wine drinker.
