A traditional three room pub with additional bench seating out front. We did manage to obtain a seat in the mid section bar area, but had to move outside to the front benches as the main door into the bar area was driving me. As it was making a loud squeaking noise, with the continuous traffic of people in and out. Five handpumps with five beers on, Anarchy Blonde Star, Three Kings Apache and Low Lights, Bass and Great North Eastern Smoke Screen. Their beers were in great shape, next time ill bring some WD40 with me.

I paid a return visit to this pub near the quayside in North Shields. Despite it being a midweek evening, the pub was just as busy as on my last visit. This time I headed to the opposite end of the pub to get a seat, where a large group were ordering dinner. 3 guest beers were available on this visit - Anarchy Blonde Star, Three Kings Apache & Great North Eastern Chinook. The Chinook was very pleasant indeed.
Original Review (Nov 20):
My taxi drive along the Quay towards this pub revealed just how many of the town's pubs have closed in the last few years.
I'd hoped to visit 4 specific pubs whilst staying in North Shields, but at least one of these was clearly closed as we drove through the town.
Nevertheless, the Low Lights Tavern was open and it was doing a roaring trade. There are 3 small rooms. You enter into the central room. I was soon directed to what was the last remaining table in the room to the left as you enter. I didn't have the opportunity to visit the third room at the right-hand end.
Bass is a regular beer here, whilst the house beer is called Low Lights and is from Three Kings. The 2 guests were Three Kings Rain Shadow & Morland Old Golden Hen. My Rain Shadow was ok, but not really my kind of beer.
