Right next door to The Shaftesbury but much less traditional,the interior furniture is kitsch,there are designer hanging ceiling lighting,and the bar stool have a lambs wool covering in bright pink.It's all very feminine.There are two wings either side of a central bar with a fine carved wood facing,an unused fireplace and with menus on every table it appeared a pub in limbo until food service starts at 5pm.Caribbean food by two television chef brothers who learned from their gran and mother how to cook.The function room upstairs has a comedy club,the bar has live music on Fridays and Open Mic Sundays.
It all feels right on,and the beer options were poor,mainstream kegs and Wadworth 6X on both handpumps,musty NBSS "poor".
Maybe food and vibes are the focus here,not much for the ale drinker and I will swerve in future,

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Hope
This pub and the adjoining café have a single-storey front extension, with their facades being set back behind the neighbouring building line. Inside, you find a slightly cramped bare-boarded U-shaped layout, with a rear beer garden and a function upstairs. Various music and comedy events advertised. The only cask ale I noted was Wadworth 6X (£3.10, half) but there may have been more on other handpumps further along the counter.
