A dying breed in the area, a good traditional local which does rather nice home-made food, as opposed to the usual family dining or posh eatery. The two-bar layout is retained in a pleasant old brick building with many beams evident. At the side is a fairly basic conservatory, with some tables and benches outside at the front. Note there is a second larger car park behind. Draught beer still the same - Doom Bar, Landlord and Harvey's Best and condition of the latter was excellent. The antidote to modernised gastro pubs and worth a visit while it still is.

A traditional pub slightly off the beaten track but still surrounded by enough chimney pots to support it. A two room pub, both with a rustic, country feel. Six hand pumps equally divided between the two bars, three beers on which were Doom Bar, Landlord and Harvey's Sussex Best, hardly exciting but adequate. A decent little stop off but wouldn't go out of my way to return.

The Castle Inn is tucked away down a leafy lane off the A320, in the stockbroker belt area of Surrey. It is a two bar pub with a dining conservatory bolted on the back. The bars are comfortable and festooned with farming and horse implements giving it that country pub feel. There is no garden, but benches out the front of the pub. There were four real ales on at the time of my visit. London Pride, TT Landlord, Harveys Sussex Best and a fourth one I can t remember. The Sussex Best was excellent and the Landlord was good.
We searched this place out for a Sunday Lunch stop and were not disappointed. These were on the pricey side at £9, but was justified in both quantity and quality. I was more disappointed with the price of the ales as all four were priced at £3.40 or above which is above what I pay for Pride and Landlord in City pubs with iconic views of London.
But I guess when you are in the leafy stock broker belt and the only other nearby option seemed to be a Harvester, you can get away with charging above the average.
