The Horse & Groom has live music and TNT Sports advertised outside by steps the lead up to the entrance that gains access to a beer garden to the left with a patio and decking that looks out onto the passing street, a pool room to the rear and the long and thin L-shaped bare board bar with central stool lined L-shaped counter to the right. In the front right corner is a dartboard and high tables run up the right-hand wall to another dartboard that is found at the rear where there’s a stained blue carpet. There was no sport of note happening during my recent Friday early evening visit so there was some random background music playing. One of the three hand pumps was in use drawing Greene King IPA, standard keg was also available alongside Cruzcampo, but the Stella and Madri were both off which wasn’t great just as the weekend was starting. This feels very much like a lads pub, in fact the polite barmaid was the only female in the building.
