The First and Last is a large L-shaped pub with a front seating area, side bar and public bar at the rear. During a recent Sunday afternoon visit the locals had all accumulated in the George Cross covered public bar where some were playing pool. Plasma screens are located throughout for showing Sky Sports and there is also a dartboard. There was some background music playing and I noted that live music and karaoke is held here at the weekends. The bar is stocked with a standard keg range and pub grub is available. The mains are mostly priced at £5.50 and two can be purchased for £10. I found the service to be slow, but friendly.
Out the back is a small car park that holds some picnic tables and a covered smoking area. Here were some very drunk locals who were not as friendly as those in the pub, which was a shame on such a sunny afternoon. I would be happy if this pub was one of my locals, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.
