Not on my original itinerary but after bumping into Staffordshire Paul, he took me here as he was enthused about the Pedigree and it was indeed surprisingly good (NBSS 3.5) - the only cask on. Lobby entrance with bar off right and nicely decorated in a faded and nicely shabby early 80s way. I was taken with it and enjoyed my 40 minutes. Would call again. The building dates from 1777.

On a pub research trip to uttoxeter I had arranged to rejoin my two drinking companions after a quick dash to tick the Dapple Grey on the edge of town, so they arrived at the Bank House before me and were able to inform me the the local beer from Mr Grundy's was off. Unfortunately it looked like the Pedigree was destined to soon join it. This is a hotel-type bar, and as with many of this type, real ale is not what they base their offering on. It's a neglected afterthought. After my experience here I shall probably be neglecting the Bank House for several years, if not forever.
