Strongers . left this review about The Shrew
The Shrew is a large L-shaped open plan pub with an L-shaped bar counter to the right. At the rear is a dance floor, karaoke with loud music and disco lights was in progress during my recent Sunday evening visit. There weren’t actually that many people in, it certainly sounded busier from outside. There’s a pool table and televisions are located throughout for live sports. The service was very friendly, but only standard and premium keg is available. Half a Carlsberg was £1.80. I’d probably watch the football in here occasionally if I lived in these parts.

Substantial old inn, but comprehensively remodelled and makeover in a sports bar style. However, there are still several side rooms and seating areas, but the whole place was dominated by live football on the numerous TVs when I visited (and I suspect this is fairly typical). Predictably, no real ale is offered, although Pedigree and Tetley's Smooth (£2.70) are among the keg beers.

A large town centre Georgian style pub, with dormer windows, in white rendering, with rusticated porch. There is a rear patio area.
The interior is an open plan, in general L-shape around the bar, with lots of little nooks and crannies. The decor is white, red, cream and wood panel in general. There are a couple of alchol related and general prints on the walls, but the space around and lack of ephemera etc does give a bit of a bare look. There is a DJ/dance area, pool table and the TVs are given over to chart music channels. The service was friendly, the clientele consisted of a few, mixed group.
Beer; all tap stuff, no real ale and no MILD. I had a coke.
The pub goes for the basic keg range as many do in Rugeley, selling them quite cheaply. Nothing for a MILD or real ale drinker, so i wont return
