A very traditional town centre boozer with lots of original features and is CAMRA Heritage 3 star,of national importance.The front door gives access to the tap room left and a side room right.The tap room has a low ceiling,a real wood burner fireplace with a small entrance to the aformentioned side room with it's wooden furniture.The tap room has a few stools for regulars and room for vertical drinking but little seating while off the corridor on the far side is a front parlour,with chintzy furnishings a bit like grans front room.
There is a large beer garden with artificial grass and a stage at the far end where there are regular performers.The welcome was friendly and the single real ale was Marston's Predigree NBSS Good and decent at £4.25.More and better ale options would have increased the score,it's well worth a visit as it stands.

The central bar area of the Red Lion is bookended by seating areas to the left and right. There is an inglenook around an old gas fire on the right wall in the tile floored bar area. Low beamed doorways lead to the seating either side and a short bar counter runs along the rear wall. Standard keg was available alongside Madri and one of the three hand pumps was drawing a nice drop of Bank’s at £3.10 a pint. I found the governor to be friendly, although he was getting ready to shut up shop not long after 20:00 on my Sunday visit. I found this pub to be welcoming, and liked the quirkiness, so I would return if in the area.

If your business model is shutting before 9 pm on a Sunday then i think you need to rethink your approach to running a pub. Landlord was a complete xxxx I'd rather give q tramp my cash than this knob head owner. Pub down tbe road £1.99a point bet his wasn't Enjoy these lack out custom.
