The Ivanhoe Hotel is a Sam Smiths pub set in an idyllic location overlooking Sprotbrough Cricket pitch. A huge imposing Brick building that must of at some point had rooms but is strictly a pub. There are two entrances at the front of the pub one leading the lounge on the left another to the right had bar. I did not go into the bar as it was pretty quiet early Sunday afternoon but I have been told there is a full sized snooker table which I think is fantastic. The lounge was pretty open plan and in a very traditional style with worn carpets and old fashioned colour scheme and decor but one I quite liked as it has obviously been this way for a long time. Some would think of it as a bit naff but I thought it had a lot of original character as do most Sam Smiths pubs. The beer selection consisted of the usual Sam’s range with them also having their lesser seen Dark mild still at the unbelievable price of £1.34. We opted for the lone cask OBB and it was very nice for £1.90. We sat outside on the first sunny day of the years and overlooked the cricket pitch. When in full season this would be a truly great place to sit outside and enjoy the game and is one of the best “unofficial” club houses of any cricket team I have seen (And I have seen many as I play myself at weekends in the summer). Overall it is a very traditional old fashioned boozer serving good beer at brilliant process. I’ll admit that it does have a bit of an “old man” vibe about it but I like that but many some women and or younger people may not find it as attractive. I would defiantly return if ever in the area and especially on a Sunday in the summer.
