If I was Hondo, I’d simply write “family dining pub hell”. That said, there were four cask on the go and my White Rat, the one of interest amongst the otherwise dull selection, was tidy (NBSS 3) so again, fair play to the local CAMRA that this is GBG. I particularly enjoyed observing the 'seen it all before' old boy staff member at the bar keeping his head whilst all around him lost theirs at a busy time, he just kept on truckin’. Live music and quiz nights advertised, so they are putting in an effort to serve the local village. Bonus is that the bus stop is over the road, so your peasant wagon back to Grimsby is easy to board if you are GBG-ticking like this sad case.

A large and fairly standard family dining pub in a suburban sort of area, furnished in typical country kitchen style. Patio tables outside also, including some under cover. The draught ales were a bit pedestrian - GK IPA, Doom Bar and Old Speckled Hen - but condition seemed reasonable. Probably rather pleasanter to eat here than in the hubbub of Cleethorpes.
