A splendid, historic building currently being run as a low-grade dump. Dirty, untidy and malodorous, adjectives pertaining to both the premises and the majority of the clientele, who are mainly itinerants using it as a cheap hostel. The small paved outside area was full of litter, and the large umbrella-like fittings over the wooden benches are in a bad state of repair, completely unusable. Opening times are advertised but not adhered to. Not a single Broadsword, flintlock or lance in this armoury, though as only one of the 4 people behind the bar was actually working, I suppose there was a quarter staff. There were 4 handpumps on the bar, but no real ale or anything resembling it. A waste of a potentially excellent venue and certainly not worth finding at the moment.

Popped in again for a quick pint - big mistake as it was bloody undrinkable. Complained to the barmaid who did nothing except disappear and the landlord didn't want to know either. Left nearly a whole pint of dire muck - PLEASE clean your pipes!! I've knocked my rating right down and I shan't be back in a hurry.
