Steve Segar left this review about Ye Olde Star Inn
Saturday 29/10/11 18:30 Party of 1. Not pre-booked.
As this is the first public house you come to if you leave Alton Towers by the 'North' exit it is often very busy as the park empties out. However, on Saturday I had no problem getting a seat and enjoying a very tasty 'Cottage Pie'. The pub is split into two with a bar/lounge (which can hold about 30/40 people) and a restaurant section which has lots of tables.
The menu is typical pub fayre and prices range fro £8 upwards. The plates are heartily in size and even though quite a few orders had preceded mine I did not have to wait very long. The service was good and cheery with a good level of courtesy. I followed the main dish with 'Banoffee Gateaux and cream' and my total bill with one drink was £15.65 but I could have spent more.
Rating of 8 out of 10 on my scale translates to very enjoyable meal, good quality food and reasonable service. Would I eat there again? Put simply - yes. Would I recommend to freinds? - Again yes.
