The Old Sal is a sprawling pub with a central bar that serves left and right-hand sides. In the right-hand side a tiled floor runs from the entrance to the serving counter across the rear where standard and premium keg products were available alongside two hand pumps, one of which was in use drawing a decent Bass. Chairs and tables, some high, are found across the front windowed wall and in the right rear corner are two side by side dartboards. Sky Sports was muted on televisions throughout while some from the 80s and 90s played in the background. The left hand-side of the pub is much larger with a serving counter up the right that faces open plan seating and a pool table. The locals were all in the other bar while this side was being used as a meeting point for a large group of runners who were about to set off into the night. Each to their own, although I was a bit disturbed to find a 20p a pop weight machine in the gents! I thought this was a friendly pub, but it’s a bit far off the beaten track to warrant a revisit, and I’ll certainly not be jogging there.

The Old Sal looks like an 80s built pub that is situated in a residential area.
Once inside there was a large bar to the front, this room had a tiled floor and a long bar, there was comfortable leather bench seating in bays which faced the bar, there was a pool table to the right.
There was a seperate lounge to the rear which looked very smart.
The pub is a Marstons tied house (ex Banks's)and there was one real ale on the bar, this was Banks's bitter which was a very nice drink.
There was a decent amount of people in the bar and it had a decent atmosphere.
I was happy enough having a drink in this pub.
