The Abingdon Arms for the majority of its life, this became The James Figg in the 2010s, named after the local prizefighter of the same name (fun fact: the building that it now Prezzo in town was previously a pub, with a brief incarnation as "Jimmy Figg's" in the late 90s/early 00s). Right in the middle of Thame's High Street, and exactly as Quinno describes below: two rooms, with a smallish snug to the right and main bar on the left, serving a long and narrow room, which extends up a couple of stepped segments to a semi-dining area at the back, partially hidden by an open-on-both-sides fireplace. Dark woody floor and various sporty pics dotted around. Four ales still on – Doom Bar, TT Landlord, Purity Mad Goose and local Animal (XT) Phoenix – the latter £5.50 a pint and decent (NBSS 3.5). Big on roasts, burgers and egg-chasing, come Spring & Autumn it can be a jeans and brown shoes nightmare. As also mentioned below, there's a decent-sized L-shaped bar out back, formerly titled Murphy's Craic: as one of the town's busiest pubs (and to negate it's limited size), this works as an overspill on busy evenings (even though its opening times parallel the main pub), albeit is heavy on the keg options. There is also courtyard seating behind this. This is one of the better pubs in Thame, and as a semi-local, I'd suggest that this is definitely worth a worth a drop into along with The Cross Keys.
