There was building work in progress when I was here, with what looks like a conversion to flats. The original pub building has been retained and added to, and the pub sign (Castle Rock) is also still standing. This piece in the Nottingham Post (September 2020) says that the plans include reopening the pub with an "Indian twist", and with hotel accommodation upstairs: https://www.nottinghampost.com/whats-on/food-drink/whats-next-former-shipstones-pub-4534414)

The Horse and Jockey was originally a Shipstones tied house that was built to serve the Basford flats complex.
Once inside the pub had two separate rooms,there was a bar to the right which had a pool table and darts board,the lounge to the left was oblongingish in shape and had bench seating and small stools.
On my first few visits to this pub there was a decent drink of Shipstones bitter and mild on the bar.
In more recent years the pub was taken over by Castle Rock brewery,i visited the pub with my wife about 7 years ago and the pubs layout was the same as it was in the early 80s,there were only two real ales on the bar,we had a drink of Harvest Pale which went down well,the other beer was Castle Rock Black Gold.
I am not sure if this pub is still up and running or not.
