A rather splendid old bar stands at the front of this aged hostelry with some nice wood panelling and a suitable selection of sporting cups, bottles and fishing rods for decoration. The sort of place that you immediately feel comfortable in (well I do anyway) as apparently did the 9 or 10 locals also. To the other side is a tidy if rather dated pvc-style dining lounge, but most of the bustling food trade is thankfully kept out of the way in the large restaurant area behind. There is a patio area beyond that. Just Allendale Wagtail occupying one of the two handpumps, but it was quite drinkable.
