This place has been closed for about three years and when I walked past last week I noticed that wooden fencing is now surrounding an empty site as the building has been knocked down. The only indication that a pub/bar used to be here is a tatty old sign saying UB7 at the side of the road.

I used to frequent here on Saturday nights around 16 years ago when it was called Bentleys. I was only 17/18 so I was glad to find a late night bar that would allow me access without any ID. It was a dark place with a dance floor and stage at one end of the bar and a pool table at the other. I remember having some good nights of pool in here as the standard was high and I used to play all of the time then, but later in the evening when the pubs chucked out it used to turn into the Wild West. This is also the venue for my first and definitely last attempt at singing Karaoke.

I wouldn’t entertain the idea of drinking in a place like this at my age now, but back in the day in was a handy place to have on the doorstep.
