this is a good traditional pub well hidden away from the main areas of Southport. Friendly staff and customers that engage in conversation plus a few real ales made it a very worthwhile Thursday afternoon visit. Does a strong food trade, but in normal times also gets busy for its live music and entertainment.

A nice little pub situated on a quite street not far from Lord St. Has a very small front drinking area where the bar is and it opens out at the rear into a larger area for eating. A small outside area with benches for fair weather drinking. Real ale available.

Agree with Will, this a pleasant little pub. You only have to look at the exterior to see this pub is going to be a decent one. The inside was traditional and carpeted throughout. On the left of the entrance there was a small room with dark leather banquette seating, which was the news room. There was a small bar on the right, with some window seating and a small kitchen behind the bar. There was a larger comfortable room set out for dining at the rear.
The manageress was friendly and chatty. Two ales on handpump, Wells Bombardier and one from the Old School Brewery called Blackboard, obviously we went for the OSB. Defo worth a visit.
