Walking through the door of the Wheatsheaf I was met by an inquisitive Great Dane and Boxer, which I must admit caught me off guard. The pub is U-shaped with a central L-shaped bar counter that faces the entrance and carpeted seating up te right. More carpeted seating, overlooked by a large projector screen, runs up the left to a pool table and dartboard in the rear. In the right rear is a small laminate ‘dance floor’ and DJ booth with disco equipment. Tiles run around the serving counter that supports standard keg, Cruzcampo and Birra Moretti. Televisions are located throughout, one of which was on airing a music channel for the handful of Late Monday afternoon locals. The service was polite, but I’m not a massive dog fan so wasn’t that keen on this place.

As you enter this pub there's a horseshoe shaped bar in front of you. To the left hand side there's a pool table and a dartboard. To the right there's a large TV screen showing sport. All the walls are bright red which is unusual. There's also a rather scruffy beer garden. Two handpumps on the bar with only one on serving Doom Bar which was a decent pint (for Doom Bar). I had a chat to the friendly barman who informed me that they want to get the other handpump on and sell Robinsons Trooper as well, but the owners (Admiral) refuse to let them sell it and want them to have bottles instead. The pub don't want to sell it in bottle, so it's a stalemate. Sounds like a restriction of trade by the greedy pubco to me. It's a decent enough pub and I'd happily call in again, but probably just for the one.
