This place has been decorated to give an old inn feel, but I’m probably older than the black painted wooden beams in the ceiling. Some old advertisements boasting of well kept ales can still be seen on some of these beams, but alas there are now six unused hand pumps on the bar leaving a standard draught range and WM Youngers Best also on draught. There is a plasma screen for showing Sky Sports and a pool table at the rear of the pub which was being used by a small group of lads. The Guinness wasn’t in the best of condition and the bloke behind the bar had the ‘working on a quiet Monday night’ blues which came across in his service. I don’t remember seeing any advertisements for food, but there is a glass food case at the front end of the bar.
The front of the pub opens up on hot summer days and there are a couple of small tables on the path outside which I imagine mainly get used by smokers.
I would probably use this place to watch football if I lived locally, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again.
