Five hand pumps and all dispensing a really diverse range of Redemption Brewing Green Hop, Sambrook's Wandle, Twickenham Burford Abbey, Twickenham Small Batch Blueberry & Maple Stout and Mayflower Session IPA from Southwark Brewing Co. The keg range wasn't too shabby at Hepcat, Belleville Steam lager, Five Points Jupa & XPA, Camden Hells, the AF version of Hepcat namely HepCaf, Inch's cider, Amstel, Guinness, Murphy's stout, Moretti, K1664 Blanc, Gamma Ray and Cruz.
This is a cracking pub in the southern environs of London, bare boarded and with the bar counter facing on entrance off the busy road outside. There are some nice booth tables on the left-hand front and side of the venue and a curvy leather banquette on the right-hand front and side with regular tables. Some stools around the pillar in the middle of the front of the venue and around the bar makes for a lively front part of the pub. There is a room behind the bar that has its own, unmanned on my visit, servery offering a large part of the keg offering. The room was busy with customers on a variety of seating arrangements around regular tables, but it lacked the vibrancy of the front part of the venue. The signage to this back bar suggested there was a garden out the rear but I didn't visit on my trip here late evening.

The Railway was just about my favourite Streatham pub on a Saturday evening visit. It was a much improved experience from my previous visit here in 2014.
It's a corner pub opposite Streatham Common station. A live train departure board can be found above the entrance, to enable you to time your departure.
As with last time, I didn't get to try the room at the rear, as there was a private function on. The main bar to the front felt quite dark, albeit atmospheric. Tables were at a premium, with many reserved. There is a garden to the rear and table seating on the pavement at the front. A food truck could also be found to the front.
At the bar, the regular cask ale is Sambrook's Wandle. Guests were Twickenham Naked Ladies & Small Batch Rum & Raisin Stout, Kent Christmas Session & Five Points Hook Island Red. Craft beers were Gipsy Hill Hepcat, Orbit Nico, Five Points XPA, Tiny Rebel Easy Livin' & Beavertown Gamma Ray. There was no sign of any real cider.

The Railway Hotel as was, dates from around the mid-19th century and by coincidence, is located across the road from Streatham Common railway station.
The interior has had a tasteful makeover, certainly more upmarket than your typical station pub, with a titmouse and white colour scheme, pale boarded floor, studded black banquettes then conventional furniture. Décor took the form of hanging ferns, mixed prints and an LED departure board. Oddly, there was a quiz taking place in a rear function room at the time of my Saturday 10.20pm visit, then a DJ hiding in the shadows playing some great sounds at a decent level, all to an older local crowd, making for a good atmosphere.
With a mass of pumps clips to the ceiling behind the bar, Streatham’s best cask selection by a very wide margin amounted to Tatton Gold, Sambrook’s Wandle, Bad Wolf Jaguar and Sambrook’s Pomelo, £2.75 a half and very decent, served by a friendly and enthusiastic barmaid.
It’s not that this pub is outstanding, but it most certainly is compared to every other hostelry in SW16.
