Not much to add to the reviews below, certainly in terms of layout. It was a bit disappointing to find feral children running wild, and there was one family group, obviously regulars, to whom deodorant and manners were clearly a mystery. There were also a lot of noisy students in, making it a struggle to get to the bar and to hear what was being said. Ales on were Joy of Sesh and BBF Fortitude; the other 3 pumps were dry. My Joy of Sesh was in poor condition, though the Fortitude was a better experience. Iford Wild Juice cider was also available, alongside Lost and Grounded’s Wanna Go To The Sun, BBF Black Gates stout and Lazer Juice, Keller Pils, Budvar and Gravity Pils. I can see how this could be a really good pub, so I should give it another try to see whether I caught it on a bad day.

A small local on a quiet road near the hospital,it's a Dawkins house but no longer serving their ale now that the brewery has packed up.Opens at 4pm but the very friendly barman allowed us to use the loo and consume beer outside when he turned up for his shift at 3.30pm.There is a discreet bench to the side of the building and a large beer garden further up the street.
The interior is quite charming with two wings, lots of wood panelling, traditional furniture and the small bar to the left. Some fine mirrors make the interior feel more roomy ,and the bare floorboards give a beer house vibe. It's all a bit worn but in a good way. There is live music,a quiz and a proper community feel.
The ale options on my trip were Good Chemistry Time Lapse,Bristol Beer Factory Launch Approval (NBSS 3.5),New Bristol Bristolian Rhapsody ,Vibrant Forest Otto and Moor Illumination plus a handpumped cider.I thought that was a decent line up ,and would thoroughly recommend a visit. It's a stiff walk up from the city centre but worth the effort.

This pub is one of a handful owned by the local Dawkins Brewery and although tucked away in a residential side street, it’s well worth making the effort to track it down. It’s quite small internally with just one compact room, and it can frequently be full to capacity, although it was relatively quiet on our recent Saturday afternoon visit.

Decor wise it’s quite traditional with wooden boards on the floor, large windows along the front of the pub and some contoured wood panelling in places which was quite attractive. Seating is a mix of an old pew, padded bench seating around the perimeter and bar stools. A pile of board games was available to use and a small TV was mounted up on the wall, although fortunately this was not in use. There was some stained glass above the bar which looked traditional but is presumably fairly modern since one of the panels incorporated the pub’s current name, when in fact it changed from being The Bell about ten years ago. Behind the bar was a large collection of miniature Star Wars characters.

Beers on tap were predominantly their own with Bristol Blond, Bristol Best and Revolution. These were joined by Electric Bear’s Inspector Remorse and Black Boss. A sixth pump appeared unused. Ciders meanwhile were Aspall’s Suffolk and their own Bristol Cider. All in all I thought this was a great pub and well worth checking out.
