A beautiful Victorian pub (built in 1896) and a three star listing on CAMRA's inventory of historic interiors. My visit was too early in the day for a beer, which is just as well because London Pride is the only cask beer. There is a pretty decent range of keg beers in addition to the usual lagers, cider and Guinness (see photos). I made do with a coffee, which was quite bitter. I had a wander around to photograph the sumptuous surroundings. Well worth a visit if you like that sort of thing, but perhaps not so much if it's a beer you're after.

First time to visit this fine Victorian Pub hotel which has been excellently renovated by Fullers in 2017 after being closed for a serious period of time by flooding, when a nearby main waterpipe went.
Although it is very Fuller corporate, the choice of their range available wasn’t great and it certainly will not be the cheapest pint you can find in Herne Hill, I still found myself really enjoying the layout of this one and the restoration work undertaken by Fullers. Yes, it has a focus on food, but this is mainly resigned to the large dining room at the back and for those just wanting a beer, you have a couple of excellent areas (as well described by Mr Fastard below) in which to enjoy them.
For the record, despite copious pumps around the bar only three Fullers ales on in the shape of Pride, Dark Star Hop Head and Seafarers and the Seafarers was in decent nick.

Was the last pub visited on the evening and pretty busy with what seemed like small groups that had been playing sports of the evening rather than someway into a pub crawl. It is a magnificent location and should be a magnificent pub but in spite of generally being OK with Fullers thought the beer choices on hand pump were very limited, lots of operating hand pumps but almost all seemed to be dispensing Pride (never seen four consecutive hand pumps all dispensing the same beer before, as the photo attests). Was expecting to be the best of the SE24 venues, but i enjoyed Bullfinch more (even allowing for the temperature).
