I agree with BF below. I did a mini-crawl revisit of the area two days ago - Wednesday - and at around nearly 9.00pm the place was dead when all other pubs were doing a roaring trade. What a terrible shame that this late 18th century pub has been denuded of all its history to fall under the hand of metal gantries and the like. As mentioned: absolutely terrible, with only the view for comfort.

A Greene King horror show right next to The Trafalar,but devoid of customers.The bar is at the same level as the lane outside while up some steps is the main seating area along the river frontage with opening windows and wonderful river views.That's the good news.
At the bar there were two ales offered on my trip in GK IPA and Fresh Legs.On ordering the latter the first sip was vinegar (NBSS 0.5) so I took it back.Barman sampled it and said it had been on tap for a long time and changed it for the ever dull and malty IPA ,NBSS 1.5. However the Fresh Legs clip was not reversed ,just waiting for a unsuspecting punter who might think that's how the beer should taste.Scandalous behaviour.
The food was lower priced than the tourist hot spot next door with the cheapest option at £8.95 ,a wrap which was mysteriously unavailable but could be substituted by a toastie,said the barman.I've seen this tactic before,have a cheap item on the menu,say its unavaliable then try to walk folk up the price scale to a more pricey piece of food service crap.
The interior is not memorable and decked out using modern colours which jarred.
This is so typical of Greene King,an absolutely terrible pub which I will never visit again.Only the view is worth 3 points.

A fairly modern and corparate bland feeling pub, beers are rather unexciting from the Greene King Stable. Given it's location It will probably never struggle for custom, but unlikely to include me.
