Really enjoyed our visit to this commanding pub in Dulwich Village. Since the previous reviews it has undergone another facelift and reopened in March 2026 after an internal update. I am guessing that was mainly focussed on the large modern glass sided extension area and open kitchen to the rear of the bar area of the pub, which leads out to the plush patio and garden area. From what I could see the main bar areas of the original multiroomed historic section were unchanged from the reviews below and the exquisite etched glass doors by which you entered the Public, Saloon and Billiard rooms are all still in place.
However, on a glorious late Sunday afternoon the best place to be is the outside seating area to the front of the pub, which catches the fully setting afternoon sun and is a great spot to enjoy a pint. And in that respect four hand pumps were on the go with TT Landlord, Harvey’s Sussex Best, Adnams Ghost Ship and ST Austell Proper Job, a solid but fairly safe line up. We tried the Sussex best and the Proper Job and both were well kept.

This place is well described below. It is a classy venue in a classy location. On a pleasant evening the outside areas were well occupied and so the interior was rather enjoyable in being devoid of noise given the overall numbers here. It felt that the bar was a little understaffed, I was lucky to be served immediately on arrival but now glancing at the bar to remind myself of the full beer options it feels there are a lot of people waiting and getting frustrated they aren’t getting served quickly.
There is a reasonable but not spectacular cask offering, no big surprise given the chain. On offer were London Pride, Harvey’s (my choice and in good nick), TT Landlord and Doom Bar along with a Rosie’s Pig cider. Keg offerings were pretty standard and included Camden Pale Ale and their stout.
This place is undeniably sumptuous. Even with its unexciting beer choices you would be very happy to have such a lovely venue as your local. I can’t believe it could be rated less than a 7 unless you had a 50:50 chance of being shot on entry, but it should be even better. It effortlessly merges into its lovely surroundings and I could well believe it is even able to organise its own lovely weather every time you visit!! This is a small represented post code area for venues, but this is a must visit venue if anywhere near and worth doubling up with the Rosendale.

The land of the huge pubs.... once again, I say outside - the front this time - so saw little of the interior.
Dulwich is a nice place - and this was a lively area. London Pride in fine condition.
