Quite busy on a Sunday evening with people sitting in the front yard and having pizzas delivered by motorcycle. Inside it's pretty close to full with a young man singing Neil Young’s Harvest Moon in a key that doesn't suit his voice. I swerved the three cask beers and tried a half of Budvar Dark Lager 4.7% (£7.10/pint), but it was too sweet, too cold and too fizzy for me. I struggled to finish it and walked off somewhat bloated from all that CO2.

The landlord at The Gregorian pointed me in the direction of this (almost) riverside pub, passing a diurnal fox perched on a wall on the way there. Tris again provides an excellent architectural and historical overview of the place, and having just come from the Gregorian, my wood panelling appreciation was on overdrive setting foot inside here. As this was only a quick stay, I didn't explore the room beyond the bar and had a quick pint of Kirkstall Golden Hour (well done to them for getting their beers in in two pubs in South London, but not so good on the beer miles) whilst three lads watched a rerun of the 2022 World Cup Final on a wall-mounted big screen. A decent destination for a local crawl, but not necessarily one to hang around in for an extended period of time.

It's a large backstreet pub with two good sized square rooms with a central bar serving each, paneled walls throughout, the seating is of sensible height and basic in nature.
I was pleasantly surprised to find four fully occupied handpumps, two per bar with different beers per room, so worth looking first, Old House Bitter, which is Hardy & Hansons rebadged, Redemption Kazbek, Lacons Ember and my choice of a rather good The Kernel Mild. There are several decent craft keg also on offer all displayed on a chalk board along with the cask and cider offerings.
A very nice pub which like Tris in the previous review of a year ago I rate 7.5, but for the purposes of this site I'm veering toward an 8.
