Visited 29/10/24. Previously visited as the Finery on 19/03/19.

Cask options were OSH, Abbot, Caledonian Deuchars and Blood Hound, the seasonal orange stout from GK. Keg options of Guinness, Peroni, Madri, Moretti, Orchard Thieves cider, Old Mount cider berries and cherries, Asahi, Estrella Galicia, Neck Oil, Lucky Saint, Paulaner Weissbier, Level Head, Siren Lumina, Hazy Day, Hoop a pale ale from the Full Circle Brew Co and K1664 Blanc.

This is a GK pub and a popular one at that based on my visit mid evening on a Tuesday. Ground floor it is bare boarded throughout apart from an obvious tiled section along the bar counter. Lots of tall tables with high stools, ledges around pillars, regular tables and chairs, fruit machines. There is an area at the back of the ground floor up the usual couple of steps to a carpeted area with banquettes and a more dining ambiance. Lighting was nice here; music was at a sensible level and classy. Some screens were showing the evening footy sans commentary. Downstairs was a basement bar with a subset of the keg beers upstairs. Pretty much a similar look and vibe, with a quiz ongoing during my visit.

Large one room with bar to left. Four weakish real ales - rest keg. Nothing special.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Finery

Refurbished Greene King outlet, formerly the Old Explorer, with a rather more contemporary look than previously. Some very substantial wooden benches in the main bar, with more usual furniture in a slightly-raised seating area at the far end. Also has another fair-sized bar (The Menagerie) downstairs with an alcove area beyond, plus a few small tables out on the pavement. Improved menu, more upmarket than previously, but some offers available. Now has seven handpumps, six of which were in operation on this visit, with real ales including a good number of guests (e.g. Wainwright, Landlord, Hogs Back TEA, Dizzy Blonde and Mauldon's Bronze Adder) in addition to the inevitable IPA. Improved.
