An old-school small hotel with a pleasant air of slight dilapidation and sundry bits of modernity slapped over the old features, like wood panelling in hazard yellow and office-type ceilings. The main bar is to the left, with a dining room and function room with its own bar to the other side. There is a garden at the rear. Beers from Batemans; food is standard pub fare but in generous quantities.

A large terraced Bateman's hotel, so yes, it does accommodation and also has a beer garden. The building looks like an irregular shaped (one part lower than the other) former coaching inn - plain brick, although rendered white at the front, large stacks and nice sash windows. It has a couple of bay windows and a central front facing gable. The interior had a couple of rooms, The dining area seemed to be separate, but the lights were out - it was a late visit and the whole place was crowded with a local's night charity quiz. The large main room is L-shaped and in coffee, red and patterned wallpaper walls. There were a few old photos, but it looked a little bare. There is a pool table, dart board and a TV (which wasn't on). There was no music (quiz). The service was fine and the quiz was friendly and went well. Beer; usual stuff, with XB and XXXB on handpull - the XXXB being fine. A pleasant enough place - happy i had one here, but unlikely to stay all night as a limited beer choice.
