Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about White Horse
Food-led pub, with dining areas on each side of the central bar, and all parts refurbished in a semi-modern style. Not much doing on the beer front, with just Woodforde's Once Bittern and Oakham Citra (£4.80) on two of the three handpumps, and a cider on another.

I came here a few times in the Noughties when it was the Tap & Spile. I remember it as being a little dark, a little dirty, and not opening until later in the day, thus missing any passing trade from tourists on Steep Hill. Now restored to its original name (as shown by a stone plaque on the east wall of the building) and reimagined for the TwentyTwenties, with a smart modern bar, smart modern art works and smart modern background music too. Three hand pumps on the bar with beers from Ansbach & Hobday, and Woodfordes; I went for the Bermondsey Pale from the first named, which was, unsurprisingly, a beer for people who don't much like beer. But it was in good enough condition and £4.80/pint. Most tables that I saw were set up for dining, but there's an area at the front, labelled The Snug, which has smaller tables, bench seating, dark walls, bright paintings and a solid fuel stove.

This is a detached corner pub and music venue with rear patio area. It is an a mock-17th century style, being of two storeys, predominantly of brick with stone string-course, window sills and lintels. It has several front facing gables.
The interior is in effect a single open plan room around a central island bar, now it has been knocked into one. The music was general and quiet, while the Reggae band were setting up in the corner of the more bar area. The decor is one of exposed brick and a fakey thick layer of yellow plaster in parts, which gives a broken look, with a mix of a stone flag and red tile floor and a yellow 'stained' ceiling look with cream cornice. General tables populate with red perimeter seating and stools. The walls have music pictures on them for interest. There is a dart board. There is a TV, but this wasn't on at my visit. The service was fine and there were a mixed group of locals and music people in.
Beer; usual tap stuff with Spekky Hen, Ruddles COunty, Hobgoblin, Castle Rock Harvest Pale Ale and Caledonain Flying Scotsman, which was decent.
A really good real ale pub. We heard the music later, when passing again and it sounded lively - would like to see a band here. In GBG and deserves it - try it!
