Queens Head, Markfield

Doesn't look all that from the outside, what with a weather-faded sign and a location on the edge of town. However it's a pretty decent little pub inside. Internal knock-through has left a small room to the left of the entrance with the main bar to the right. Quirkily decorated with quarry tile floor, burberry-esque banquettes that cover the whole external wall, 1960s era fake black beams and a sightly loopy turquoise and sky blue painted lower servery with gold crown reliefs. Carry on down the corridor past a small snug-cum-darts room into what looks like a basic courtyard garden but hit left and there's a really big grassed area through a gate. Cask-wise it was just Marstons Pedigree available, served-up by a friendly mature landlord and no complaints with the liquid (NBSS 3.5) though the pitted glass needed to be skipped. I quite liked it in here and it was the best of the four in Markfield that day. 6.5
