Estate pub, buried away in the bowels of the Eyres Monsell. Not lit outside, which gave me a fair idea of what I might be up against. Entirely grey interior bar the pub carpet. Jumbo TV showing music TV - dance hits of the 90s, inevitably; the pool table was getting a bit more action. The sort of place where you drink what the locals drink - so a bottle of Crazcumpo it had to be. Initially it was just one or two motivated locals but not as bad as I thought it might be and was left alone to begin with. That changed as one patron became somewhat agitated by the presence of someone he didn’t recognise so I negotiated my escape, though it was a pretty uncomfortable experience.
