A busy food pub, with two car parks that fill up quickly early evening, and doubtless at weekends too. For the drinker, less of an attractive prospect, with limited space and not much to entice on the bar. There are three hand pumps, which had beers from the Marstons stable at the time of our visit, and no reason to think that other times are any different: Jennings Cocker Hoop and Cumberland Ale, and Marstons Burton Bitter. We had the Cumberland, which can be an enjoyable drink when well kept, but this was simply ordinary.

Called in on a Thursday evening at about 8 pm and the place was absolutely packed and my Wife and I were lucky to get a seat at a table. The attraction appeared to be the food and looking at a menu,I could see why. Both the menu and a list of "specials" offered a wide choice of fare and at very competitive prices. The staff were polite and efficient even though they were under quite a bit of pressure. Jennings beers were on draught and Stella Artois and Becks were the lagers available. Plus the obligatory Guinness and cider.
There is also a beer garden with good views of the surrounding countryside. It was dark when we left and the car park was poorly light and as it has a base of compacted earth and gravel,as opposed to concrete or tarmac, it can be a bit muddy when raining - which it was, so our shoes got a bit dirty. So don't wear your best shoes if you go on a wet day.
There are a few easily manageable steps at the entrance but I did not see a disabled access but there may be another such entrance available.
Next time we return it will be for a meal as the food looked good and it certainly attracts a lot of custom - which is a recommendation in itself.
