Imposing ex-Spoons, adequately described below. It looks massive and feels even bigger on the inside, with a lot to admire from an architectural point of view- curved glass and wood. Sadly, it no longer seems to sell real ale, with just national kegs for sale. Emphasis on live sport. Was doing a brisk trade on a cold Saturday afternoon. It's a great building and I enjoyed my visit, would be even better if they could put a couple of handpumps back on, but I doubt there's much demand for it.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Station Freehouse
Landmark building opposite Nelson's railway / bus interchange. Vast interior, with a large curved bar and various lounges, pool room, etc. I don't know whether the higher levels are still in use, but one can imagine all sorts of former function rooms and hotel bedrooms up there. Three of four handpumps working when I visited, offering two Moorhouses beers - Dr Rudi and Pure Witch (£1.95) plus Sun Bear from Old Bear Brewery. This must really have been quite a place in its heyday, so hopefully its latest incarnation will thrive.
