more of an upmarket restaurant/bar/hotel thingy than a pub, lovely tranquil location on the canal

We stayed here last Wednesday and Thursday so we could attend our daughter's Graduation Ceremony at Lancaster University. The rooms were very pleasant and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the full English breakfast and the Poached Smoked Haddock were excellent. On the Wednesday evening we had dinner overlooking the canal lock. I had the homemade Steak and Ale Pie and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The bar and lounge area was traditional but with modern touches. The real ale on offer was Guzzler, Speckled Hen and Lancaster Blonde. All well kept and well presented.

The Mill is a bit out of the way but well worth a visit.
