We'd chosen this as a stopping pont on our cycle ride along the Leeds-Liverpool canal between Burnley and Skipton. It's handily placed not far from where the canal emerges from Foulridge tunnel. Coincidentally, the rain which had been fairly light and intermittent suddenly turned into a downpour just as we arrived. The pub is bright and welcoming, especially so in view of the weather. The bar is immediately in front on entering, with five hand pumps dispensing four real ales and a cider. I went for the Hetton Pale from Dark Horse brewery in the village of the same name, which was in good condition. The other beers were nationally available brands.
