Trundling along as a keg-only local, though at least one of those was a Loddon Ferryman's Gold. Friendly welcome behind the bar, earthy locals otherwise who were unthreatening.
June 2018
After a long period of closure, the Red Cow has re-opened. No ale at present.
August 2014
Another new licensee, amusingly called Mr Lager. Nominative determinism? Two ales on the other night, Doom Bar and Otter. The Otter was pulled through significantly but the resultant half was still appalling. Large tree out front looks to be on its last legs.
July 2012
Shocked to find a decent pint Doom Bar available the other week. Barman completely crackers, turned my half into a pint and managed to completely mangle my name despite being corrected twice. Still, at least he's trying.
May 2011
Oldest pub in Caversham and one of the saddest. Has lots of amenities to make it a good outlet (car parking, massive garden, big interior) but Enterprise have ruined it. No real ale.
