A one-roomed pub on Royston's Market Hill, next door to the (closed at time of review) Boar's Head. The entrance-facing bat serves and oblong room which becomes L-shaped to the left (this semi-functions as a dining area). A raised area far right houses a pool table which is surrounded by large screened TVs all of which were showing PL football during my brief sojourn. Just two ales on - GK IPA and Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold (decent) with Fuller's London Pride and one other reversed). Some nice music-related touches with some framed albums covers and posters, but it's a little bit jack-of-all-trades and the TV volumes were far too loud.

Very decent one bar pub on the Market Hill one way system at the end of Royston High Street. The bar area is directly in front of you as you walk in from the street, and as well as the usually fizzy lagers and cold Guinness there are three handpumps, which were dispensing Adnams Best, Youngs Ordinary and a real cider at the time of my visit.
The pub is mainly wooden floored, with a traditional public area to the left supporting a pool table and a couple of fruit machines. Then a seating area off to the right, where there is also a smaller raised carpeted lounge section.
The pub regularly has local cover bands playing on Saturday nights, at which time the raised lounge area becomes the stage, and the right hand side of the pub is cleared of seating to make way for the crowd.
Then out back there is a courtyard area with seating to accommodate the smokers .
The beers are usually well kept here and the Saturdays when a band is playing are usually lively affairs.
