As referred to below this is a member of the Vintage Inns chain and is indeed a Country Inn style roadside pub in a pleasant semi-rural location just outside of Rickmansworth. A fairly comfortable and characterful multi area interior which doesn’t sound too much changed from the review below and a pleasant outside seating area to the front of the pub.
Initially we just stopped for a drink when the traffic was rubbish on this particular Friday evening rush hour but finished up having three dishes from the starters menu and all we tried was very good. Three ale hand pumps on the bar but sadly all clipped with Sharps Doombar, which was kept OK but fully lived up to its modern reference of “Doombore”
Good service levels from the hard pressed couple of staff which were on early evening and would certainly consider to utilise again when the traffic is crap and hope there is something more interesting on the pumps next time.

A Vintage Inns roadside pub in a pleasant semi-rural location just outside town. You enter the main bar through the car park and find a flagstone floor, sober music and a friendly atmosphere. Exposed brick and timber attempt to create a rustic feel but somehow don't quite hit the mark. There is a restaurant area to the rear, and there is limited outside seating which is made less pleasant by the busy main road. They run regular evening events, usually with themed food. The staff are friendly and effective, but not efficient. The seating is comfortable, and the overall experience pleasant. There were 3 ales on – I had Hobgoblin, which was in excellent condition. I would be happy to return for a meal or a few beers anytime and would include on a crawl.
