Attractive village pub overlooking the village green of Sarratt. Inside is split into different sections, partly tiled and partly boarded. There are some boots on the windowsill, reflecting the pub's name. The pub has a garden and a large car park to the rear. There is also an undercover patio area to the rear and some picnic tables to the front. The garden has children's play equipment.

Greene King IPA is the regular cask ale. 2 other handpulls were clipped with Tring Liberator & Citrus 'n' Sirens. A fourth handpull was unclipped. Greene King Level Head is on keg. I didn't spot a cider. Above the bar, you can see a large array of Tring pumpclips. It's probably a good place to find some of their lesser spotted beers. I opted for the Citrus 'n' Sirens, which was a new one for me and was also quite enjoyable.

Food is clearly a mainstay here. Demand seems to depend on food sales. Indeed, arriving on a Thursday morning, I was immediately asked if I was looking for breakfast. Background music was playing and wifi is available, which was lucky as I had no reception otherwise.

The better of the two village pubs I visited and deservedly has a place in the 2026 Good Beer Guide.

The Boot is a Grade II listed 18th century freehouse located directly opposite the village green in the quaint Hertfordshire village of Sarratt.
Although, like the other pubs in the village, it has a bit of a focus on food, it does retain more of a traditional village pub feel that say the Cricketers up the road.
There is a cosy main bar area with horse-brasses adorning low beams and a large brick fireplace to the right of the main entrance which has real fire during winter months. Elsewhere the traditional pub interior has been retained but the areas have more of a contemporary sofa seating feel. Then to the back of the main bar there is a separate dining area which retains the traditional beams.
There is a small patio seating section to the front of the pub, which is separated from the main road by bushes and a couple of trees. And then outback there is a garden with a children’s play area. And the pub benefits from a large car park to the side.
This free house offers four Ales with a couple of regular changing local brewery option and on my visit Adnams Broadside, GK IPA were complemented by Buntingford Brewery Highwayman and Vale Brewery Helios and both the Highwayman and Helios were well kept pints.
Can’t comment on the food, but for a pint this was a very pleasant pub and I will certainly be travelling out this way on further summer evenings to utilise it.
