I echo Quinnos thoughts about this place, although fairly smart inside, and the Staffie was fine, the locals looked a bit odd and one had to retrieve the barman from upstairs who upon arrival looked like he had just woken up. Four pumps on the bar and none in use. There was FA Cup football on TV, a pool table and dartboard. A little off the beaten track but this pub strikes me as not coming anywhere near its potential.

A pretty old pub from the outside and I did wonder on approach if it was a gastro pub – it isn’t. Enter via a low door to a relatively large place that's been whacked through a bit but retains some character over the myriad of small areas that wrap round the bar. Looks like some money has been sunk into the place (from the accommodation?) but nonetheless this is a locals redoubt with reflexive swearing, roaming dogs, local tales about local characters, random zombies emerging from within the bowels of the pub having had ‘a fuckin large one last night’ and Premier League footy. Ostensibly friendly though the fact I immediately greeted the roaming Staffie on entering probably helped. Four pumps with Hobgoblin and Hobgoblin Gold with Doom Bar turned. My Hobgoblin Gold wasn't up to much and left a weird menthol-style taste. A bit of an odd one, this.

Stayed for a drink and the beer was the basic lager and keg beer. The Stella was alright, they were into their football at this pub. A slightly awkward atmosphere but nontheless it was a decent pub.
