I was pleasantly surprised by this pub – what appeared at first look to be a very ordinary estate pub was actually far better than that. There is a reasonably sized car park at the front, from which you enter the pub via a covered terrace which is mainly used by smokers and has no real view. Inside, the bar is informally divided into two areas, and there is a conjoined area with a separate Italian restaurant business, Luciano’s, in the same building. The staff were professional, welcoming and friendly, and the other customers civilised. There was a large TV screen, but this was switched off. The unexpected bonus was the beer range and quality – Wolfpack Sesh IPA, Tim Taylor’s Landlor, Sharp’s Solar Wave and Doombar, all in excellent condition. The keg range was Moretti, Stowford Press, Aspall’s cider, Madri, Guinness, Foster’s, Neck Oil and Prahva. Worth a visit for its ale, perhaps combined with a trip to The Rising Sun down the road.
