A large and relatively unspoilt traditional pub, with just a few decorative trimmings to annoy (trellis - really?) but lots of original features. A pub of two sides, with the old front on High Crown Street, but road access from Hawthorn Road. There is one large J-shaped room round the bar, with a garden behind (or at the side depending which way you came in). There is a fair amount of red velour furnishing and various offers aimed at students, who seem to be the key clientele. Beers apparently change regularly but seemed to be on the less-exciting side: Doom Bar, 6X, Oakham Citra and Robinsons Trooper.
