Still a food-led Greene King roadside pub, it’s largely unchanged since Michael Wright’s review, below. The only real addition is a few gaming machines. Customers were all dining, apart from us. Draft choices on were GK IPA, King Mango and Abbott, and there were 2 boxed ciders from Lilley’s. Keg choices were Amstel, Guinness, Peroni, Foster’s, Thatcher’s Gold, San Miguel, Madri and Moretti. The young staff were polite. Fine for a quick drop-in, but probably not a great evening venue.

This is a Greene King pub, mainly food orientated, you know the score, two meals for a tenner type of place
We visited on a Sunday lunchtime in June, mainly for food, pub lunch idea
There is a tarmacadam car park, not huge for size of the pub, but I guess most could find a spot somewhere with a bit of thought
The pub is open plan, but lots of sub compartments, loads of room, bit dark wood country pub corporate decor, nothing wrong with that, just so you know. Some areas require step down, so not all may find it easy for wheelchairs, walking sticks or Zimmer frames
Nothing much I can say about the beer, it was GK stuff, it was OK
Food, we had fish & chips, again OK, not Rick Stein of course, but then I was on the A36, in a GK pub and, for the price, was not expecting anything other than what I got, which was acceptable, hot & edible
Staff & service was polite & quick
To sum up, not a destination pub, but if on A36 Salisbury / Southampton road and need a stop for whatever reason, this will do you nicely
