This appeared (for the first time in years) in the Good Beer Guide 2026. I've lived in the county all my life and never heard of the village. Its a mile off the A38, along a very narrow track. On a dead end to the River Severn - you really need to want to go there.

The railway long gone - on OS Maps, you can trace the route through Upton and onto Malvern.

The pub is an excellent country pub - encouraging daytime pensioners in for food in the day, but not neglecting the beer drinker. Had an excellent chat with the landlord about the beers he can source. It is a freehold, so anything could be on. He says there is usually one from Three Tuns - today, it was the lesser spotted Chater. A long pull through and what was served was in excellent condition.

There is outside seating at front. A smoking shelter. A couple of cloth chesterfields on the left of the front bar and a dining room running out front and around the back - where there is also a full sized bowling alley - unseparated from the main pub. Bet this makes a racket!

An very enjoyable visit.

The village of Ripple is not the kind of place that could support a station these days. But the name of the pub and the street that it's in, along with old photos inside confirm that it did indeed have a station at one time or another.

The pub has 2 or 3 rooms inside, along with a nice patio area for outdoor drinking to the front. The young bar staff were friendly and chatty, so much so that the barman almost forgot to charge me for our drinks, which he only did after prompting. The chef also appeared towards the end of our rather brief visit. I have a feeling he was also the landlord.

Wye Valley Butty Bach is the regular beer. Ledbury Gold was a guest. There is a car park to the rear, reaching by a seemingly never ending driveway to the right-hand side of the building.
