Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Wheatsheaf

The Wheatsheaf is Writtle's entry in the Good Beer Guide. It is a 2-room locals pub, with a bar to the left and a lounge to the right. The lounge had several other customers in. So, I chose to drink in the bar, where there were just 2 other customers and a dog.

There is a dartboard in one corner. Space is so tight, that a scoreboard is rather incoveniently situated the other side of the entrance door from the board itself. There was also a TV in the bar which was switched off. Colour pictures of the local area could be found in both rooms.

Service was from an Eastern European barmaid. 2 regular beers were Skinner's Betty Stogs & Timothy Taylor Landlord. Guests were Crouch Vale Essex Boys, Bishop Nick Ridley's Rite & Mauldon's Silver Adder.

A tiny two bar pub just off the green.Very friendly staff and four real ales on tap.Well worth a trip from Chelmsford.
